The use of sophisticated software systems for coal mining that is mostly burnt for power generation and steel production and adds to the greenhouse effect is valid for western countries who may allocate resources and funds to alternative and more greener sources of power. Some of the alternatives may be "safer" than the traditional mines. Unfortunately, coal statistics show developing economies are more likely to increase their use of thermal coal & metallurgical coal in coming years because of its affordability and to meet increasing demands for electricity and steel. Spinning reserve power plants that produce CO2 year-round while adding little power to the grid.

Studies performed in Germany, a big wind and solar nation, yielded similar results, i.e., big investments and subsidies in wind and solar projects created expensive jobs, produced little, but expensive power and much less CO2 reduction than anticipated. It's all about the money and votes extracted from the crazy greens who use this as a subsitute religion.

In a decade or so, the world will be littered with wind and solar that nobody wants to maintain or disassemble. We already have abandoned wind farms that should have been a monument to stupidity. Once the maximum monies have been sucked from the taxpayers and ratepayers, it will be history. Putting people into "fuel poverty" isn't going to be very popular politically.

I remember a period in the 70's that it was cloudy and raining for 21 straight days in D.C. area.

It't kinda like driving a car that quits running intermittenly, so you have tow truck follow you with a reliable car and when the car stops you trade cars for the reliable one. This activity would be classified insane.

It seems that is more expensive because it is subsidised. Just like thoes overpriced homes in PCP, (A Pocono Country Place)subsidized by Fannie Mae and Fredie Mac. Also, the doping matierials used in the manufacturing of thoes cells such as Gallium Arsenite are in high demand. They are imported from other parts of the world and are also used in the rest of the semiconductor industry.

It's great that you broke it down that way. On a cost-per-cost basis, I would agree with you. The current state of solar technology is waaayyy too inefficient compared to that of traditional sources of electricity. But we should also consider the effect on the environment as a factor. It may be more expensive, but it is cleaner.

The capital return on reusable forms of energy is limitless. With a free (albeit slightly unreliable) fuel source, the entirety of production is based on in place infrastructure and operating maintenance, which for all forms of renewable energy is cheaper. The regulated energy cost vs production and government incentives are the only reason for-profit groups haven't moved over to renewable energy.

Solar panels do NOT work 24/7.... and if you think the individuals compiling and writing these reports ran their numbers on that, then you should probably just stop reading my entire response and finish your sippy cup. A 6-8 hr cycle with 2-4 of direct production is being measured.

"ALL GREEN projects are created from government subsidies," This isn't even a fact or an opinion, it is just a false statement. Nearly all major reusable energy projects are corporate or privately backed. For-profit groups know that eventually the market equilibrium for oil and even nuclear power will surpass that of renewable energy. Without any sort of tariffs or incentives or anything else, the solid facts (at least represented by an intellectual committee) reflect that if someone were to go out and create a solar farm equivalent to a 500MW coal plant today, the solar farm would be cheaper.

Out of 3,100 billion, less than 1 billion is used on "Alternative fuels" with 500 million going to nuclear.

Wikipedia and a local news outlet fail to be even remotely valid sources after 6th grade. The "facts" represented in that news article reflect technology over a decade old. The type of solar power much of this article is talking about has been outdated for 5 years. SWH systems are mandatory in new buildings in most European nations as well as China and Israel.

Math is not a strong suit of greenies, that is why we are in the mess we are. Nor do you understand "basic economics". ALL GREEN projects are created from government subsidies. What that means is that instead of paying now, you place the cost of this expensive electricity on the national debt, thereby forcing our children and grandchildren to pay of the energy that we are using NOW!
